fascination

Slowly, going through a weeks worth of photographs, this one was at the end. I found myself transfixed by the apparently silky cocoon casing. Visions of walking like a zombie, to the nearest spinning wheel, to make yarn like a prickly halo, run through my head. Or, maybe I’m still recovering from watching Coraline last night.
Good inspiration here for a gossamer knit fascinator.
Edited to add: I’ve since learned, from flickr contacts, that the name of this plant is Sempervivum arachnoideum. It’s a very spidery name, no?

I love that too. Does the cactus do that by itself? Or does something else (like an insect) do it?
