crochet: first class

Posted on | August 9, 2009 | 8 Comments

Most of the samples I made for the class are pinned to this board. At the last minute, I whipped up the four flowers at the top. I’m glad I did because the pattern consists of just chain stitch and single crochet which proved to be enough stitch work for the first class.

I was planning on the students making a few flowers and motifs and then putting them together, stacking them, or not. That’s how I work, make a big pile and then put things together, adding buttons and beads.
But then, Grace surprised me by finishing her flower, sewing it to a felt back and sewing the pin on too! Clever girl :)

    Sweeet!
Crocheting little things- or maybe bigger things when they were put together- was supposed to be my summer project but I haven’t gotten around to it yet. Maybe in September!

i love the simplicity of Grace’s pin. funny how sometimes – but just sometimes – less really is more and it makes a stronger statement.

When are you ever going to come EAST and see us? I really REALLY want you to come visit, teach, inspire. What would it take? A home exchange, perhaps?
