Kids art and dolls

On the last day of Wisdom Arts Lab sewing camp the kids showed off all their dolls and doll accessories. Each child made a wood bed, sewed a mattress, made a quilt, a doll, doll clothes, little tiny journals and pencils! and more!
The best part is seeing all kids glowing with pride in their handwork. [...]

sewing camp

I’ve been busy sewing sample projects for the kids to learn how to make at next weeks Spring Sewing Camp and the Wisdom Arts Lab.
The orange kitty is made from an old t-shirt. Can you “feel the power”!?

Happy New Year

Cheers and best wishes to everyone in the New Year.
I love the fresh start that the New Year gives us. It fills me with hope. I don’t make resolutions but I do rethink all the things I gave up on in the old year. Well, why not try again?
I spent the last week of 2009 [...]

The book is 8 pages [...]

Eliza crocheted this flower last Friday during class. She decorated it with shells and beads and made a beautiful hair clip. love!

I’m super scattered today. I can’t seem to concentrate on anything.
Memories of the movie I stayed up until 3 a.m. watching probably have a lot to do with my state of mind. It was [...]

crochet: first class

Most of the samples I made for the class are pinned to this board. At the last minute, I whipped up the four flowers at the top. I’m glad I did because the pattern consists of just chain stitch and single crochet which proved to be enough stitch work for the first class.

crochet flowers

Crochet flower class starts this Friday at Wisdom Arts Laboratory.
This week, while planning for the class I found myself analyzing stitches, and imagining flowers. Stitches and flowers, double crochet, triple crochet, circles, petals, curves, form and texture.
And, I fell in love with a certain thistle-y flower.

Summer Camp

Scenes from Wisdom Arts Laboratory summer camp….the kids were busy making art! I taught a mask making class. We looked at masks from around the world, talked a little about texture, and representation but mostly, I just let them go and do their own thing. Encouragement and gentle suggestions go a long way, if you [...]
